Macmillan: World’s Biggest Coffee Morning
24th September marked The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan. Macmillan Cancer Support is one of Britain’s largest charities, providing specialist healthcare, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. Although fundraising could not be done in the traditional manner this year, this did not stop our homes from getting together for a Macmillan Coffee Morning. Our party-loving residents at Bourn View had a blast raising funds for Macmillan as they enjoyed the day with an exceptional performance from their in-house choir.
Families and relatives were invited to join the festivities outside in the glorious sunshine, of course, accompanied by some delicious coffee and cakes. As always, the staff did a fantastic job decorating the home and garden in an abundance of green balloons and bunting.
As part of their coffee morning celebrations, Avonmere residents were treated to a performance by entertainer Danny Guest, who performed some classics by Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. And at Knowle Gate, residents joined the staff in decorating some of the cakes themselves. Provided with a piping bag and sprinkles, residents had a wonderful time designing their own treats and tasting their creations afterwards. Altogether, Avery managed to raise an impressive £3,664.83 for Macmillan!
