Sherrie and fizz with love!
Acacia Mews Care Home in Hatfield welcomed Avery Ambassador, Sherrie Hewson, to our Champagne and Canapés Open Day on Thursday 14th February.
To embrace the Valentine’s Day theme, we decorated the home with a giant love heart on the entrance doors and the tables were decorated using wooden love hearts that were painted and decorated by the residents in the days leading up to the event. We posted pictures in the windows of couples from times past such as Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. We also used images of Sherrie and two of her ‘stage’ husbands, Reg Holdsworth from Coronation Street and Monty Staines from Benidorm!
Sherrie joined in the Valentine’s party and spoke to all of our residents, including a lovely conversation with Marie Page about her days in the Women’s Institute. The lovely Babette entertained everyone with a variety of songs from the 40s onwards, including love songs to fit in with the Valentine’s theme. Our PAT dog Coco even made an appearance!
Dom our Head Chef and his team did us proud with delicious finger food which included various vol au vents; eggs with sour cream and salmon; olive, feta cheese and tomato mini skewers; mini mint and strawberry meringues and much more. The residents and guests also enjoyed a glass of champagne.
We loved inviting Sherrie to the home and she said she had been made very welcome, had really enjoyed herself and hoped to come back again soon.
