Good Elf for Christmas
Residents at Loxley Park Assisted Living in Sheffield have been getting into the festive spirit early, with a variety of seasonal activities. So far, they have enjoyed a visit from Sheaf Choir Singers and the Stannington Bell Ringers and a fun-packed Elf Day, which saw staff dress accordingly and behave mischievously, much to residents’ amusement.
The rest of the month is set to be just as exciting, with a Christmas Fair on the 3rd of December, a carol concert and Open Day on the 6th of December, and a visit from the musical trio, Take Three on the 7th. Residents have made giftware for sale at the Christmas Fair, including wreaths and snowmen, as well as hedgehogs fashioned from the pages of an old book. The party will really begin on the 13th of December, as residents will board the minibus to the nearby Red Lion pub for festive food, drinks, and entertainment. Later that day, professional pianist, Kamla will be performing.
A Salvation Army band will play outside the reception area on the 18th of December, with a Cheese, Wine and Fruitcake evening the next day. Vocalist, Susan St Nicholas, will get the Christmas party started on the 21st of December, and after a delicious buffet tea, Well-being Assistant Kathy will become Santa, distributing gifts alongside fellow staff members dressed in festive costumes.
Speaking of the events, Well-being and Activities Co-ordinator, Brenda Ridgeway, said: “We make sure everyone has a lovely time at Christmas. I’m already helping prepare everything for New Year’s Eve, which will be great fun.”
Smiles from our elves: Well-being and Activities Co-ordinator, Brenda, and Kathy, who will be Santa at the Christmas party on the 21st of December.
