Fun with Facebook! – Rowan Court’s Pride Event
Joining trending topics is an excellent way to get involved with exciting and fun conversations online. Many of our homes love to join in with topical events or TV shows, with firm favourites being the Great British Bake Off and Strictly Come Dancing; they also tackle bigger topics, such as Dementia Action Week and other current issues. In particular, Rowan Court Care Home caught everyone’s eye in October with their Pride event on their Facebook page!
As an LGBTQA+ inclusive home, Rowan Court wanted to raise awareness of the diversity of relationships within their community to both their staff and residents. They made sure to take photos of the entire day, including their quiz and the healthy debate that followed. In sharing this on their social media page, it also allowed their whole community to feel part of the event – although sadly we readers didn’t get to partake in the glitter rainbow face paint!
This issue’s top tip: Try and capture some video as well as photographs when posting – it helps the digital promotion and marketing effect of your home! We like to use video clips in our adverts on Facebook and we also put some of the best videos on our web pages. Video-based posts get a much greater reach than photographs, are shared more and have more engagement from your followers. Try out some video recording first to build your confidence before posting, and remember that video looks much better in a post when it is filmed in landscape orientation. Lights. Camera. Action!
