Eurovision Song Contest
For many, the Eurovision Song Contest is the must-watch event of the year. This dazzling competition unites Europe for a thrilling showcase of top musical talents from each country. What started as a technical experiment in TV broadcasting nearly 70 years ago has become a beloved tradition, captivating audiences with its live, simultaneous, transnational spectacle, bringing unforgettable moments and great entertainment to our residents year after year!
Several homes tuned in to watch the Eurovision Song Contest unfold as Switzerland eventually emerged as winners. Eastbourne Gardens participated in a sweepstake to decide on which country their residents would be supporting for the competition. Paying tribute to this year’s host nation, Sweden, Knowle Gate in Solihull dedicated a whole weekend to honour the success of ABBA on their 50th anniversary since they won the competition. Residents created ABBA-inspired decorations and tried delicious Swedish treats whilst watching Mama Mia.
