“Oh We Do Like to be Beside the Seaside….”
At Silvermere we like to get out as often as we can and with our mini bus, on a good day, with the wind behind us, we can make the coast for a breadth of fresh air and some tasty fare! Here is what one helpful family member who came with us thought of the whole day…
Dear All,
I just wanted to thank you and your teams, Mel and all the carers etc for all your hard work yesterday making the trip to Hayling Island such a resounding success.
I am fully aware of how many weeks of planning it takes to organise such an event, but, on top of that, the individual care and attention you all give to each and every person is wonderful and makes each of them feel listened to, cared for and very special.
I have visited many care homes through my work and it is extremely rare to see every member of staff giving their all and pulling together as a really solid team.
I was most impressed and it has re-assured me, yet again, that Mum, and in fact everyone there at Silvermere, is in the best possible place to enjoy their dotage.
One of the lovely things I got from so many different people yesterday was the wonderful stories reminiscing about trips to the seaside as children, or in later life with their children and families etc and lovely memories from those who had been bought up by the sea and had a real affinity for it
Apart from the fish and chips bringing back stories of Fish Friday, delicious fish recipes or the chip pan being permanently on, with chips every day – just breathing in the sea air was great and eating ice cream cones outside was an extra unexpected highlight!
You must all be a bit exhausted but, I hope with a little glow of pride and achievement for putting a smile on so many people’s face
With thanks and best wishes
