Coffee and Cake with Sherrie at Seagrave House
On the morning of Friday 19th October, Seagrave House Care Home welcomed Avery Ambassador Sherrie Hewson to the official opening of our new coffee lounge.
We decorated the home with lilac and silver balloons and a big ribbon for Sherrie to cut for the official opening. There was a wonderful platter of sweet treats, including an outstanding Victoria sponge with hand piped champagne colour roses, rich Belgian chocolate brownies and iced cupcakes, all made by our wonderful Head Chef Ryan.
The event started with a warm welcome to Sherrie Hewson as she met the staff and residents of Seagrave House. Two of our residents, Miriam and Joan, presented Sherrie with flowers on her arrival. Other residents, family members and staff all gathered in the café as Sherrie completed the official opening, with harpist Nick Penny accompanying in the background.
Sherrie took time to speak to everyone and had photos and selfies taken with residents, relatives, visitors and staff; she even went on a tour of the home to meet some of the residents unable to get to the café. She visited our cinema room which was loaded with sweet treats and drinks and she sampled the popcorn, stating she preferred the sweet popcorn to salted!
Miriam and Joan spoke with Sherrie about their gardening interests, while Jim Finn discussed Sherrie’s time on Coronation Street. She also spoke to resident Kit about being a vegetarian, Kit’s love of dogs, the war and what a beautiful home Seagrave House is. Everyone expressed what a lovely lady Sherrie was, how she took the time to speak to everybody and how she was really down to earth.
The day was a great success from start to finish with a lovely atmosphere, and to see more search ‘Seagrave House Care’ on Facebook.
