Celebrating Black History Month
In the UK, Black History Month is celebrated every October, offering an opportunity for everyone to share, celebrate, and gain a deeper understanding of Black heritage and culture.
At Silvermere Care Home in Cobham, this year’s Black History Month was marked by a vibrant event that brought together residents, staff, and guests in a spirit of unity and appreciation for diverse cultural experiences. The celebration featured engaging speeches, traditional cuisine, and personal stories, all of which fostered a greater sense of understanding and connection.
Lola, a valued team member, delivered a heartfelt presentation about her home country and personal heritage, offering insights that enriched the experience for all those in attendance. Charmaine also contributed meaningful stories, highlighting the unique histories that shape the Silvermere Care Home community.
This special event not only honoured Black history but also demonstrated the strength of the community in creating a space for learning, respect, and unity. It was a memorable day that left a lasting impact, showcasing a strong sense of connection among all who participated.
