Care Homes Raise over £6,500 for Macmillan!

Last year, all our care homes came together to put their full support behind the Macmillan Coffee Morning, leading to Avery Healthcare raising £6,000 for Macmillan and this year we went even further! Together we raised over £6,500 across all our care homes and independent living locations.

Our professional chefs were joined by residents to bake a sumptuous range of cakes and biscuits, and the homes welcomed families, friends and visitors from their local communities to enjoy a most sociable and tasty morning.

Macmillan Coffee Morning is an annual event to help raise fund for Macmillan Cancer Support, famously known as the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. All the money raised on the day goes to the charity, who ensure that no one has to face cancer alone.

Ellen Finn, Fundraising Manager said, “Macmillan are incredibly grateful to Avery Healthcare for once again taking part in our World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, and raising a staggering amount of money. With the numbers of people being diagnosed with cancer each day, we need these vital pounds now more than ever. We have hundreds of Macmillan professionals working in medical and community settings across the country, from nurses to GPs, support workers and nutritionists, supporting people living with cancer and the medical, practical and emotional effects of a diagnosis. Avery Healthcare’s generous donation will help us to fund a Macmillan Nurse for over a month, allowing them to reach the lives of people living with cancer and support them and their families.”

Shown receiving the cheque from Mark Danis, Avery’s Commercial Director is Ellen Finn, accompanied by Shweta Mendon, Home Manager at Ashurst Mews Care Home in Northampton, and Jenny Lawrence, one of Avery’s Well-being and Activity Coordinators.

We’ve had great success raising money for several worthy causes this year. Together we have raised £5,000 during Dementia Awareness Week and this summer we raised a further £5,000 for charity from our National Care Home Open Day events and Armed Forces Days. Be sure to keep an eye on our website to see what we get up to next time too!
