Care Assistant Wins ‘Outstanding Achiever’
We at Newcross Care Home in Wolverhampton, are delighted that one of our fabulous healthcare assistants, Elizabeth Whitehouse, has won the ‘Outstanding Achiever’ Award at the glamourous Qube Learning’s 2017 ‘Inspirational Learning’ awards, held at the iconic Waldorf Hotel in Central London in March.
The ceremony is held in recognition and celebration of the hard work, achievement, passion and dedication of workers in the healthcare sector. The glittering Awards event was hosted by TV presenter, Laura Hamilton, and BBC TV ‘The Apprentice 2016’ finalist, Grainne McCoy.
Elizabeth’s journey started when Qube Learning and Avery Healthcare, who own and operate Newcross Care Home, worked jointly to build a Health and Social Care Apprentice Programme and selected Elizabeth to be one of the first trainees; she excelled within the scheme, becoming a healthcare assistant after her apprenticeship ended and is now a valued member of the Newcross team.
Elizabeth’s long-term career goal is to become a care home manager, which is an attainable ambition for the future within Avery Healthcare’s structured career pathways for all levels of staff. Elizabeth has discovered many highlights in the role, commenting: “I love getting to know resident’s life histories, which has helped me connect with them and feel a part of their lives. I am delighted and very proud to have won this award”.
Avery’s Regional Support Manager, Rita Flanagan, commented: “We are extremely proud of Elizabeth’s achievement and recognition, and her continuing hard work that makes our Newcross residents feel truly at home. She thoroughly deserved to win this award.”
