Priory Court Burghley Suite Grand Opening
Here at Priory Court Care Home, we recently celebrated the official opening of our Burghley Suite on our memory care floor, with Avery Ambassador, stage and TV actress Sherrie Hewson! The new Suite was decorated with balloons in Avery silver and blue, plus giant letter helium balloons that spelt Avery, plus plenty of white and silver bunting.
Sherrie took time to visit the other suites in the home first, meeting staff and residents and taking photos together. She then went up to the Burghley Suite to be greeted by lots of residents, relatives and staff. Dante Ferrara, an Elizabethan minstrel, provided our themed entertainment for the day.
Everyone enjoyed drinks such as Prosecco, Bucks Fizz and soft drinks with lovely food made by our Head Chef, David Marshall, including duck and orange paté with toast, guacamole and sun-blush tomato crostini, Mediterranean vegetable quiche, followed by desserts such as white chocolate pannacotta and brandy snaps with cream and berries. Our Care Assistant, Marie Saunston also made a beautiful cake with Forget Me Not icing as a reference to Dementia.
Resident Percy Walton then presented Sherrie with a bouquet of flowers, showed her his war medal and the letter he received with it from the French president, and they spent time talking about Percy’s time in the war. A massive thank you to everyone who joined us for the official opening of our Burghley Suite, as everyone really enjoyed the day.
