Avery Healthcare Chefs Prepare for NACC Regional Finals
The National Association of Care Catering (NACC) has announced details of this year’s Care Chef of the Year Awards. The competition allows chefs to showcase their skill, knowledge, creativity, and professionalism in the field and highlights just how rewarding it is to be a chef in the healthcare sector as a dynamic career choice.
The competition also challenges chefs to create innovative and exciting recipes whilst adhering to a budget and meeting the nutritional needs of their clientele. Keen to get staff involved in the competition, Simon Lawrence and Gareth Cartledge, Avery’s Head of Culinary and Hospitality and Regional Culinary and Hospitality Manager, have encouraged chefs to showcase their talents and get involved.
So far, four chefs representing Avery have progressed through to the regional finals. The three chefs selected for the Midlands Regional cook-off on Wednesday 14th July at North Warwickshire & South Leicestershire College in Nuneaton, are Tomasz Milewski, Droitwich Mews Care Home, Stuart Dale, Crispin Court Care Home, and Sam Janes, Knowle Gate Care Home. Emilio Pascucci, from Astbury Manor Care Home, has been selected for the South Regional cook-off, due to take place on 6th July at the Unilever Kitchen, Leatherhead.
Each contestant will be judged on their ingredients used, nutritional content, presentation, taste, texture, and overall working method. Two finalists from each regional cook-off will go through to the NACC Care Chef of the Year Final, which takes place on Wednesday 6th October 2021.
Congratulations to all involved and best of luck!
