Astbury Manor Achieve Double Gold CAP Awards!
Continuing its first in the adult social care sector, Avery Healthcare, in collaboration with the CAP Awards (Continuous Advancement Programme), is delighted to announce that Avery’s Astbury Manor Care Home in Bracknell has won a double Gold Award for both Housekeeping and Catering.
The CAP Awards promote and reward excellence in Catering and Housekeeping, in hotels as well as care homes, schools and hospitals. Its aim is to raise standards in service and performance and to support the development of services for the benefit of the end user. The awards are based around a series of assessments and an unannounced visit to a service, with the primary focus being the standard of front line service delivery, and compliance to legal and regulatory best practice.
Davesh Kumar, Head of Hotel Services explains: “Astbury Manor Care Home did incredibly well in preparing for the CAP audit. Given the time they had to prepare themselves, they showed a lot of commitment and hard work to achieve this success. I found the home environment always welcoming, clean, fresh and the team motivated. Both Chef Enrico and Head Housekeeper Mariola showed enthusiasm and took pride in presenting their respective teams at their best. The success at Astbury Manor will foster more enthusiasm and excitement in the hotel services team to maintain the high standards they have set in the group and be a role model for other homes in the care sector.”
An independent CAP assessor made an un-announced visit when both teams were inspected. Both Catering and the Housekeeping Team scored highly and were considered to have gone beyond expectations to ensure attention to detail in each and every task.
Davesh added: “Only 15% of participants in the CAP Award Programme achieve a Gold – so we are extremely proud and delighted.”
The project was overseen by our Manager, Juliet Gallop. She commented: “We are all absolutely thrilled with this award! The people behind the scenes are often our unsung heroes, so this award is all the more special. Working towards the CAP awards created a fantastic buzz around the home and it really highlights how well we are all working together as a team. It is a huge achievement for us all and one that we can build on with confidence in the future.”
