Our Amazing People – Rose O’Mara
Rose O’Mara joined Avery in 2016 as Home Manager at Silvermere Care Home in Surrey and has since guided it to a fantastic CQC (Care Quality Commission) result with a team that is fully behind her. Her achievements even led her to be a finalist at the 2019 Avery Awards.
During her management of Silvermere, Rose has worked tirelessly to build a home-from-home for residents, leading a team highly engaged with passion and energy to provide the best in quality care. Her responsive and approachable manner has also earned her considerable respect and support from both residents and their relatives.
Mel Swain, a member of the team at Silvermere since it opened in 2013 commented: “Rose encourages staff to speak to her no matter what their concern and she treats everyone with care. She has great empathy for the challenges that we face and supports in any way possible. Rose is dedicated and caring about resident well-being, and it has been a pleasure to work with her; she is one of the best managers I have worked for.”
Rose’s leadership has led Silvermere to have a ‘Good’ rating in four categories from the CQC, with an ‘Outstanding’ in the Responsive category. This result demonstrates how residents have received highly personalised care for their changing needs, ensuring the best possible health outcomes.
Resident Ellen Dew reflects this: “Rose is a lovely lady to lead the care home; she is very approachable, accessible and supportive.”
Lisa Soper, Operations Manager South, has supported Rose since she joined and has seen the home blossom under her management: “Rose has truly been an inspiration and fundamental in the success of this home. She is always seeking new opportunities to improve Silvermere and was influential in changing the management structure to ensure improved support to the staff, residents and families alike. She is keen to develop her team and a passionate and committed Manager. I feel honoured to have the pleasure of working with her.”
But Rose doesn’t dwell on her success! She is now a mentor for new Home Managers in the Avery Group and is undertaking her Level 7 in Strategic Management and Leadership. We are sure that she will successfully achieve that as with everything else that she takes on!
