Our Amazing People – Kate Sweeting
Kate Sweeting joined Avery in 2013 and successfully commissioned Acer House Care Home in Weston-super-Mare. Her positive approach launched her into a Local Marketing Manager role, where she now supports Avery care homes and The Hawthorns retirement communities with local marketing, recruitment and community engagement strategies. “I love a challenge and getting stuck in!” says Kate. “Working with and supporting everyone I come into contact with, be that residents, families or staff, is a passion which I find hugely rewarding.”
Operations Director, Lisa Soper, has worked alongside Kate since she joined: “Kate is one of life’s gems with a can-do approach. Whether supporting a new Home Manager, covering a home in a manager’s absence or getting out and about in the local community promoting homes, she is always willing to help, and always with a smile on her face.”
Everyone that comes into contact with Kate comments on her ability to roll her sleeves up and get to work. She can turn her hand to any task and has been known to clear dishes and don her uniform to cover care shifts – all with pride and in keeping with Avery’s high standards and ethos. Her passion and drive for continuous improvement at our homes is contagious and Kate’s infectious work ethic encourages all those around her.
Steve Goodman, Avery Projects Manager, has worked alongside Kate during a number of significant refurbishment projects. “Kate is a joy to work with. She understands the vision and is immediately onboard to achieve it. We had daily meetings to compile and implement processes and plans, all with one priority which is the welfare of our residents.”
Kate travels all over the country to fulfil her role, but home is Weston-super-Mare. Outside of work, Kate is kept busy (and slightly broke!) by five nieces and two nephews. She also loves tennis and is particularly passionate about Wimbledon, she’s even been known to camp overnight to secure tickets!
