All Hail the Queen of Country and King of Rock and Roll!

On 19th January, country music legend Dolly Parton celebrated her 75th birthday, a perfect opportunity for Dukes Court residents to commemorate her life having cemented her spot in history with some of the world’s most well-known hit songs.

Well-being and Activities Co-ordinator, Simon turned the hair salon into the “Dukes Saloon Salon”, complete with Dolly posters, balloons, disco lights and of course the singer herself playing on the sound system. Never one to miss an opportunity to dress up, Simon arrived at the “Saloon” in appropriate cowboy attire ready to impress resident, Marion. Upon entering via a glitzy pink glamour curtain, Marion was greeted with a glass of Bailey’s and a pamper. “Wow, you’ve done all this, how lovely!” said Marion, who is looking forward to visiting again soon. Leading up to “The King”, Elvis’ birthday on 8th January, Loxley Park residents enjoyed colouring pictures to display. Dressing up was, of course, compulsory on the day for a morning filled with word games, Elvis inspired quizzes and rounded off later by an Elvis performance. Resident Lynn said of the festivities, “I loved Elvis and its brought back good memories.” She couldn’t help herself and had to get up and dance.Elvis Day
