Adelaide Cha-cha-chá for Charity!

Adelaide Care Home, Bexleyheath invited Avery Ambassador, Stage and TV actress, Sherrie Hewson to our Going the Extra Mile event where we were fundraising for The Care Workers Charity (CWC). Taking a spin on going the extra mile, the home decided to dance their miles together with lots of creative dance moves!

The home and the garden were decorated with an orange and blue theme to match the CWC colours.

Upon Sherrie’s arrival, she encouraged all members of staff to have selfies with her and had time to chat with individual staff and residents. Conversations included Sherrie’s acting career, specifically in Coronation Street, and residents’ experiences of living at Adelaide. Sherrie commented about the good atmosphere in the home, how homely and welcoming it was and how nice the staff were.

Throughout the day, we had performances by Debbie Watt and Wii. H. Kirk. Sherrie, residents and other guests danced along to our entertainers and even wore hula skirts – as you can see in this clip!

To finish our event in style, Home Manager, Shiella Davies and Sherrie announced the raffle winners and handed out the prizes. The raffle prizes were donated by local companies we work with, and included beautiful designer handbags and perfumes. In the end, we had over 50 amazing prizes!

The Culinary team provided a fantastic BBQ of burgers, chicken and hot dogs also a variety of mocktails for all to enjoy.

Sherrie Hewson enjoyed her day and was very approachable and down to earth, enjoyed seeing her get involved dancing and signing autographs.
