Acacia Lodge Care Home is Outstanding!
Our staff and residents at Acacia Lodge Care Home in Manchester are incredibly excited as the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated our home as ‘Outstanding Overall’ after an unannounced two-day inspection.
Acacia Lodge is the first home in Avery Healthcare’s portfolio to achieve the Outstanding Overall accolade from the CQC. The report features a variety of positive comments from staff, residents and relatives. Some examples are:
During the inspection, the CQC spoke to a district nurse, who commented, “This is the best home we visit. Staff respond and will give us assistance. They are professional and there is always a senior on duty with the carers, so it runs smoothly.”
Residents told the CQC they were well treated and supported. Comments from residents at the home included, “The staff are very kind and caring”, “It is very good here. We get looked after” and “The care staff are marvellous, lovely people. They help me when I need help and I can get the care when I need it.”
The CQC spoke to a resident who is the chairperson for meetings who said, “I am involved in the running of the home. We help make decisions such as what activities we want.” The CQC noted that our registered manager had created an extremely positive culture where people, staff and relatives had ownership, made decisions and took pride in being involved in some aspects of running the home.
Residents spoke highly of Joanna Roberts, Home Manager. Quotes included: “The registered manager is caring and professional. We get to talk to them whenever we want”, “I think the manager is wonderful.” and “I know the manager knows everybody and comes around regularly. You can raise anything with them.”
Joanna Roberts has been managing the home for five years and has led the team to this well-earned result. “I am absolutely over the moon to receive ‘Outstanding’ in my CQC report, I am extremely proud of all my team who work so hard to ensure the residents receive outstanding care. It is such an achievement as the criteria is extraordinarily tough!! This result means so much to all at Acacia Lodge and we will continue to strive for better standards of care putting Avery on the map!”
Regional Manager for Acacia Lodge, Maria Booth said: “I am extremely proud of Joanna and the team at Acacia Lodge. I have worked alongside Joanna for the last 4 and half years and have seen the home move forward in every aspect. Joanna has worked very hard and her persistence and patience have obviously paid off with this glowing outcome. We are all very honoured to receive this fabulous report.”
