Learning residents’ life stories, introducing reminiscence sessions, and using the internet as a resource for evoking memories and past customs are all excellent launching pads to fully rounded care and a sense of well-being.
All bedrooms are ample in size, and we encourage residents to put their own stamp on their rooms and take pride in their photos and keepsakes that they have on display. Our bright lounges, full of chatter, are companionable, social spaces, with quiet spots too for reading or doing a jigsaw.

Our care home in Staffordshire has established strong ties with local schools and associations, who play a valuable role in ensuring residents remain part of the wider community. Students from Newcastle-under-Lyme’s college are regular visitors and spend many days making friends with residents and joining in with activities, which may be:
Rowan Court has its own minibus which regularly takes residents on trips to places of interest all year round. Our full-time activity coordinator is always surprising us with new and stimulating places to visit. There’s nothing like a change of scene to raise the spirits.
Our resident chef and assistants ensure that all residents receive the very best of healthy and balanced meals, cooking everything from fresh, and sourcing locally whenever possible. Residents’ tastes are taken into consideration. They consulted in the menu planning stages and are always given a choice at every meal. Breakfast in bed is also an option should you want it as well! And if you fancy something that isn’t on the menu that day, our chefs are happy to discuss alternative options including local delicacies. Our understanding kitchen team recognise that tastes change with age, and the effect medication can have on appetite, they are therefore always looking for ways to keep menus enticing for residents.
As well as keeping the body nourished, mealtimes are about coming together and being sociable. Often these times are the highlight of the day; an aperitif and a glass of wine add to the occasion. The freshly baked cakes and pastries that appear in the morning and afternoon are more than popular too.
