Our sister home is located parallel to Cliftonville Care Home, and we often share trips and events together as well as the lovely garden. Our cinema room is well used for afternoon matinées, and there are plenty of opportunities to reminisce, especially for our dementia residents. There is also a fully equipped beauty salon and therapy room for those who like a bit of pampering – and who doesn’t?

The housekeepers look after the rooms beautifully and carefully dust photos and keepsakes that residents like to put on display to ensure they feel at home. We make great use of mementoes and memories in our approach to dementia care and like to involve friends and relations as much as possible. Our doors are always open!

You may be mistaken in thinking this is a reference to the classic film Grease, however, it is in fact what some of our residents call our fantastic team of activity co-ordinators, as they are quite distinctive in their pink uniform. The team initiate, foster and encourage the home’s lively leisure schedule. You would expect knitting and gardening to be on the list, as they are, but here are a few things you might not have anticipated:
Here at Cliftonville Care Home, we have a large screen in our cinema room and matinée afternoons are always popular. This has also been utilised for other means than watching films, such as live streaming a wedding in which one of our residents was unable to attend. A magical moment that shows just how modern technology is put to best use within our home. We are extremely keen to facilitate Skype links, but we also have real links, rather than virtual, with the local community.
