Abbey Court Were Flying High As They Raise Over £300 For Charity

Here at Abbey Court Nursing Home we wanted to support our Air Ambulance Charity, so we began our fundraising the week leading up to our fayre where we sold raffle tickets to staff and family members. The local shops had also donated various raffle prizes for us. This put us in great stead for our Summer Fayre which was held inside due to typical British bad weather, but that certainly did not stop us! We had a variety of stalls ranging from a tombola, bottle stall, hook a duck, card, and bric-a-brac stalls. One of our staff members did a hair and beauty stall, and a residents’ family had a lovely sweet stall… We even had a residents’ hand crafted stall, with gifts they had made themselves!

We provided tea, coffee and cold refreshments and we had a delicious BBQ outside which was a real hit! Even with the weather, instead of paying out for an expensive disco or entertainment we decided to get a variety of party songs to play ourselves. Everybody had such a fabulous time, even some of the residents had their faces painted.

Our Fayre was such a hit that we were not only joined by family members and staff, but members of the public from the adjacent housing estate. It was such a great day, everyone pulled together, a real team event to make it the success it was.

The Midlands Air Ambulance were so pleased with our donation; they were amazed we had raised so much. We would like to say a huge well done and thank you to all those who helped us reach such a fabulous amount.
