Local Food Bank Receives Generous Donation from Hempstalls Hall Care Home Residents
Staff and residents at Hempstalls Hall Care Home have made a significant contribution to a local food bank in Newcastle-under-Lyme by donating a large amount of essential items.
The Newcastle-under-Lyme Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust network, serves six local areas including Chesterton, Knutton, Clayton, Kidsgrove, Madeley.
Hempstalls Hall Care Home made the donation during the local foodbanks grand opening of their new facility at Brock Way.
The staff, residents, families, and friends of Hempstalls Hall generously donated a range of non-perishable items, from essential cupboard staples like soups and pasta to treats like biscuits and chocolates.
An email sent by the luxury care home to the local community requesting contributions received an overwhelming response. In less than a month, Hempstalls Hall Care Home collected enough items to make a significant donation, which was then given to support those in greatest need.
Jo Hosey, a new resident at Hempstalls Hall Care Home, shared her enthusiasm for the initiative.
“I was really happy to go along to donate food to the foodbank,” Jo said. “It was good to see the work they do!”
Lisa Bailey, Home Manager at the care home, shared, “We’re passionate about staying connected with our community and actively participating in local projects. Our residents love staying engaged with what’s happening around them. Making this donation to the local food bank meant a lot to them.”
A spokesperson for The Newcastle-under-Lyme Foodbank said, “We can’t function without the generosity and kindness of our local community. Thank you so much Hempstalls Hall Care Home.”

The organisers of National Food Bank Day have made calls for more support to aid the millions of people struggling to put food on the table in the UK. They say the reasons for this struggle can include but are not limited to illness, job loss, and unforeseen changes in circumstances that can happen at any time.
