Bourn View Care Home reunite Kenneth and Betty

Thanks to the wonderful staff at Bourn View Care Home in Birmingham, resident Kenneth reunited with his wife Betty after she surprised him by moving into the care home.

The couple, who have been married for 71 years, had recently been required to separate due to current COVID-19 restrictions. Kenneth moved into Bourn View five weeks ago for dementia care. After deciding she could no longer be without her husband, Betty decided she would move in too.

Betty self-isolated for two weeks before surprising her husband, Kenneth. The touching moment the couple reunited was caught on camera by Bourn View staff member Rosie and, after going viral on social media, had reduced the whole nation to tears.

After seeing the story circulate the internet, a crew from Good Morning Britain got in touch and visited the home to chat with Kenneth and Betty. Customer Service Manager, Judy Faulkener, accompanied the couple during their interview with GMB.

When asked how challenging current restrictions are for residents at the home, Judy responded by saying that all staff members are like a big family, and they all work exceptionally hard by keeping ‘everyone upbeat and happy’.

Well done to all staff at Bourn View Care Home for making all this possible for Kenneth and Betty. Watch the interview on Good Morning Britain here:
