Cliftonville’s Polka Dot Party!
On Friday 15th November, staff and residents at Cliftonville Care Home, Northampton all dressed up in their finest polka dot clothes, ready to raise awareness and fundraise for BBC Children in Need. We also invited a very special guest – TV and Stage actress, and Avery Ambassador Sherrie Hewson.
Our Polka Dot Party for Children in Need was a resounding success with £367 being raised and with so many guests attending the dotty event, it was hard to fit everyone into the home!
In reception and in our ground floor dining room, we had two fabulous multi-coloured balloon arches with lots of polka dot accessories.
We treated all of our guests to glasses of Prosecco, and the culinary team did a fantastic spread of food including Thai King Prawns. There were sumptuous cakes and desserts including a Pudsey face cake but the cake that Sherrie loved the most was the big chocolate cake that one of our chefs Elden had made for her. The topping was Sherrie’s face made out of chocolate!
We also invited a talented singer, Amanda Seal, who provided the entertainment. Always popular with residents, who love her music, Amanda had everyone dancing and singing along with Sherrie.
To end the day, Sherrie called the raffle and announced the winners of the Children in Need Duck Race.
We all had a fabulous day fundraising and our residents loved the event. Home Manager Cathy Frost said: “The team worked tirelessly to achieve a wonderful result for our Children in Need fundraiser, it was such a pleasure to see the whole team come together and create an amazing day for our residents. We were glad Sherrie Hewson could join us as she made it all the more special. The chef produced an exceptional cake for her. The residents and families enjoyed the day, and at the same time raise funds for Children in Need.”
