Champagne and Canapés with Sherrie
Merlin Court Care Home, Marlborough were delighted to welcome Avery Ambassador Sherrie Hewson to our spectacular Champagne and Canapés Open Day.
Our event was themed around British culture, so to prepare we decorated the home with a balloon arch of red, white and blue balloons and Union Jack flags. Red, white and blue table centrepieces were made to complement the theme.
Sherrie spent a lot of her time meeting residents and relatives. Residents were keen to learn about Sherrie’s career as an actress, and her opinion on Avery, as they knew details about her experience with other care homes. Sherrie spoke a lot with one of our residents, Audrey, who took Sherrie to her room to show her the photo album she treasures so much. It was also Mavis’ birthday on the day, so Sherrie posed for photos with her and her relatives.
Sherrie also spent time with Lorna – you can tell the two of them shared a special moment together in this photo we captured!
We invited a local talented Pianist Kieran Pocock to our event, who provided everyone with a repertoire of songs and music from all different genres and for all ages. The home also had a visit from “Music for Health” and Sherrie delighted everyone by joining in the singing and dancing.
Our talented Head Chef provided everyone with a sumptuous spread of the most delightful selection of handmade canapés to celebrate Sherrie’s visit. A selection of these were smoked salmon crème fraîche vol-au-vent, crushed avocado and quail’s egg spoons, goats cheese and walnut filo parcels. Desserts were homemade truffles, chocolate strawberries all served with champagne or orange juice.
Everyone who met Sherrie was genuinely touched by her warmth and personality and how she gave her time so generously for photos with residents, relatives and the staff team. The visit was a great success with everyone talking about how much fun it had been and what a great Ambassador Sherrie was! We can’t wait to see what she gets up to next.
