A Royal Welcome for Sherrie Hewson
On Wednesday 17th October, our Avery Ambassador Sherrie Hewson joined us to officially name the units of Milton Court Care Home! In celebration of the occasion, our event had a black and white theme throughout, including monochrome balloons, flowers, garlands and other fantastic decorations.
Sherrie was welcomed into the home by the Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes and took photos with staff and residents while enjoying music from Eleanor our Harpist.
The Royal Family were the inspiration for the titles of our suites, so we kicked off our day with a Royal Quiz! In between questions, Sherrie spent time talking to residents about her career and their experiences of living at Milton Court. Before long, the quiz results were in and Sherrie came second – she certainly knows her stuff!
After our quiz, we had a few words from our Home Manager Paul Bundyford before the unveiling of our Sandringham Suite! Sherrie then made her way to open the Windsor Suite where we had a Ukulele group, MKLeLe, providing entertainment. Residents and staff were dancing, singing, and laughing along with Sherrie, the Deputy Mayor and Home Manager, Paul.
On the penultimate leg of our tour, we guided Sherrie up to the Highgrove suite where our Memory Care residents were having afternoon tea. Sherrie unveiled our plaque and had photos taken with our staff and residents. Lastly, we thanked Sherrie with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, took some final pictures and then waved her off to her next performance of Benidorm at the Milton Keynes Theatre.
Paul said, “It was a fabulous day, with Sherrie joining our residents for a variety of activities throughout the home, where all our Suites now have their own names so that the residents feel that greater identity.”
Thank you to everyone who came to our event! We had a fantastic time celebrating together and can’t wait for the next big party.
